Looking for New Style Fukushima in the 21st Century

LOCATION
　The City of Fukushima, which is located in the northern part of Fukushima Prefecture, covers an area of 746.43 sq km, stretching 29.9 km from east to west and 38.2 km from north to south. The Fukushima City Hall stands at latitude 37°45'N and longitude 140°28'E. Fukushima lies within 300 km of Tokyo.

GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES
　Fukushima lies in the center of a basin which has the Azuma Mountains to the west and the Abukuma Mountains to the east, The River Abukuma flows through our city from south to north. A wooded hill named Shinobuyama overlooks the central city area, Our suburbs are blessed with rich soil. and a great amount of fruit is produced every year.

CLIMATE
　Fukushima, which lies in a basin, bears a number of characteristics of an inland climate. The average annual temperature ranges from 12°to 14℃, and seasonal differences in temperature are considerably great. Our annual precipitation ranges from 800 to 1,400 mm. Rainfall is heavy in June, but light in February.
