Toward a Safe and Comfortable City to Live In

　かけがえのない市民の生命と財産を災害から守るた め、新しい時代に対応できる防災体制の整備に万全を期 しています。複雑化する災害に備え、緊急通信体制の強 化を図るとともに、応急救援物資の備蓄、各自治体との 相互応援協定の締結、地域自主防災体制の確立・活動促 進などを進め、行政と市民が一体となり、総合的な防災 体制の充実に努めています。さらに、車社会が進む中で、 交通事故から市民を守るための交通安全対策など、安心 して生活できるまちづくりを推進しています。

　In order to protect our citizens' lives and valuable property from disasters, we are taking every means to modernize our disaster prevention system and to adapt it to the demands of the day. By way of precaution against complicated and manifold disasters, we are engaged in the innovation of our emergency communications network system, the storage of emergency relief goods, the conclusion of the mutual assistance agreement with neighboring municipalities, and the development of citizens' self-active disaster prevention organizations. Improvements to our comprehensive disaster prevention system are steadily carried out by the joint efforts of the citizens and the city administration. In this age of automobiles, various measures are introduced to protect our citizens from traffic accidents. Our aim is to build up a safe and com- fortable city to live in.
