名誉市民
HONORARY CITIZEN

 古関裕而氏は、明治42年に福島市で生れた作曲 家。「長崎の鐘」、「栄冠は君に輝く」、「福島夜曲」 などその作品は5000曲にもおよび、わが国の音楽 文化の普及、向上に貢献されました。市では昭和 54年に名誉市民第一号に推載しました。平成元年 8月逝去。


 Mr. Koseki Yuji, a grand master of melody in Japan, was born in Fukushima in 1909. Up to 5,000 songs were set to music by Mr. Koseki. "The Church Bell in Nagasaki," "You Are Crowned with Victory" (a march composed for the National Senior High School Baseball Tournament), and "Fukushima Serenade" are among them. Mr. Koseki contributed very much to the development and popularization of music in Japan, and was installed as the first honorary citizen of Fukushima in 1979. He passed away in 1989.
