伝統の入金(いりきん）真綿

　保原町は、江戸時代から、養蚕 の本場として、また優良真綿の産 地として全国にその名が響き渡っ ていました。

　現在は、全国で唯一といわれる 袋状真綿「入金真綿」を生産して います。長い伝統の技術から生み 出される真綿は、全国一の高品質 を誇っており、結城紬の糸の九九 ％が入金真綿で作られています。

ほんのり輝く美しい真綿

この真綿の形が大判小判に似ているうえ、貴重品として現金取引されてすぐ入金されることから、「入金真綿」と呼ばれるようになったといわれています。

ハイテクノロジー の発信地

　保原は工業の町でもあります。 町内二ヶ所に広がる工業団地には、 アクセスや自然環境など保原町の 好条件を生かして、首都圏などか ら多くの企業が進出しています。 これらの企業は、電子機器関連の 最先端技術部門を中心としており、 保原は新世紀のハイテクノロジー の発信地となっています。

Hobara is the town of knitwear．About sixty years ago two men，Mr．Kaneko and Mr．Nouchi began a textile business．Thanks to their passion and innovative techniques it developed into the town′s chief industry．The high quality of its knitwear can be seen in shows in Tokyo and throughout Japan．

Hobara also became famous for its high quality silk worm and cocoon production．The cocoon floss made in Hobara is called "Irikin−Mawata "and its shape looks like a little bag．In Japan，only Hobara can produce this unique and highly sought after floss．

Hobara is also an industrial town with two large complexes．Many firms from the metropolitan areas have set up shop and produce some of the most advanced electronic goods．
