伝説編
鬼五郎の伝説が、一千年の時間を越えてなお人びとに語られるのは、鬼となってもこの地を守ろうとした兄弟の郷土愛が、人びとの胸に響くから。ふるさとを愛し、ふるさとを育もうとする心が町の人びとのなかに今も生きています。
鬼五郎・幡五郎伝説
その昔、早稲川の里では、兄の鬼五郎は里長として先祖代々の田畑を守り、弟の幡五郎は開墾に精を出し、作物を育て、兄弟が力をあわせてこの地を治めていました。ある時、坂上田村麻呂を総大将とした都の一軍と、阿武隈山系一帯の有力者であった大多鬼丸(おおたきまる)との戦いがはじまります。鬼五郎は大多鬼丸に従い、里を守るため出陣。勇敢に戦いましたがジリジリと後退し、ついに、かくし砦の鬼穴で自決。戦いが終わり、再び平和になった早稲川の里では、幡五郎が、郷土を思い果てた鬼五郎の意志をつぎ、よりよい里づくりに励んだということです。
Legend
The legend of Onigoro which has now reached across more than a thousand years is still being passed on by the people of Ogoe because the story of the two brothers who protected their town touches peoplds hearts. The spirit to love and cherish one's town still lives on in the people of Ogoe today.
The Tale of Onigoro and Hatagoro
A long time ago in the village of Wasegawa in Ogoe, two brothers joined forces to rule over the land. Onigoro, the older brother, protected the fields as the village chief and his younger brother Hatagoro worked to cultivate the land. One day. Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, an army captain, came with a troop of soldiers to fight Otakimaru who wielded power over the Abukuma range. Onigoro joined Otakimaru in order to protect his town. They fought bravely, but were gradually pushed back to their hidden stronghold in the Oniana where they committed suicide. After the battle, the village of Wasegawa once again became peaceful. In memory of his brother Onigoro, Hatagoro worked hard to build the best town possible.
