また、このころは日本中がみだれていたため、浄土信仰(じょうどしんこう)が広がり、空也上人(くうやしょうにん)など活やくしました。
At that time,the whole country was thrown into confusion,so the Jodo sect faith spread around andKuya,a famous Buddhist priest,was active.
また一方では、武士(ぶし)たちは、熊野(くまの)・八幡(はちまん)の信仰の印(しるし)として、熊野堂(くまのどう)の熊野神杜(くまのじんじゃ)や大和田(おおわだ)の八幡神社(はちまんじんじゃ)をこのころにたてたといわれています。
On the other side,as a symbol of belief in Kumano and Hachiman,it is told that warriors had builtthe Kumano hall at the Kumano shrine and the Hachiman shrine in Owada.

(2)明治(めいじ)のはじめころ The beginning of the Meiji era

長かった武士(ぶし)の時代が終わると、日本は新しい国づくりに力を入れはじめました。
When the warrior age,which continued for along time,came to the end,Japan started constructingthe country enthusiasticauy.
この時、河東は代田組(よだぐみ)とよばれていましたが、57か村もの小さな集落(しゅうらく)の集まりでした。
At that time,though the Kawahigash-town was called as Yodagumi,it consisted of small villages(57 villages).
これらの小さな集落を合(がっ)ぺいしていくことが、新しい国づくりの第一歩とされました。
Merging such small villages was the first step for making a new country.
そこで、1889年(明治()22年)までに57か所あった集落が、日橋(にっぱし)村・堂島(どうしま)村の2か村にまで合ぺいが進みました。
Then the village consisting of 57 existed until 1889 became 2 longer villages of the Nippashi-villageand the Dojima-village after merging.
その後、1957年(昭和(しょうわ)32年)4月に日橋村・堂島村が合ぺいしてから河東村になるまでおよそ80年間、2つの村の時代が続きます。
After that,the 2 longer-vllage-age continued for 80 years until the change of the Kawahigashi-village.

(3)河東村のたん生 Birth of Kawahigashi village

1957年(昭和32年)4月1日、日橋(にっぱし)村と堂島(どうしま)村が合(がっ)ぺいし、河東村がたん生しました。
The Nippashi-village and the Dojima-village merged on April 1.1957,and the Kawahigashi-villagewas born.
村役場(むらやくば)は、旧(きゅう)日橋村役場を本ちょうとすることになり、河東村のスタートがきられました。
When the old Nippashi-village office was a government office,the Kawahigashi-village started.
これより、村内の水道の整(せい)びや公えい住(じゅう)たくのけんせつが進められていったのです。
Then,repairing water supp1y and building public housing developed.
合ぺい時の村の人口は男5,793人、女6,230人、世帯(せたいすう)数2,001戸でした。
The populations of the moment of merged 2 villages were 5,793(men), 6,230(women),and thenumber of houses was 2,001.

(4)河東村から河東町へChange from the Kawahigash-Village to the Kawahigashi-Town

1978年(昭和(しょうわ)53年)3月28日、河東村は河東町となり、福島県(ふくしまけん)で52番目の町となりました。
When the Kawahigashi-village changed to the Kawahigashi-town,the town became the fifty-secondtown in Fukushima prefecture.
1979年(昭和54年)3月26日に公民館で行われた町制施行記念祝賀会(ちょうせいしこうきねんしゅくがかい)(町になったことをおいわいする式)は、県知事(けんちじ)をはじめ国会議員(こっかいぎいん)や県議会議員(けんぎかいぎいん)など多数の人々がさんかして、たいへんせい大に行われました。
